Is this you?

You used to know your kid. Lately, you’re not so sure.

  • You ask how their day was and get a one-word answer — if you get one at all.
  • You can feel the eye rolls coming before you’ve finished the sentence.
  • Every conversation about phones, grades, or friends turns into a standoff.
  • You’re tiptoeing around topics you used to talk about freely.
  • You catch yourself rehearsing what to say just to avoid a fight.
  • You miss the kid who used to tell you everything.
  • You wonder if this is just what teenage years are — or if something’s actually wrong.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. And nothing about it means you’re failing.

Why this is so hard right now

Here’s what no one tells you: your teen pulling away isn’t a sign that something’s broken. It’s a sign that something’s working.

Adolescence is the second-biggest developmental shift in human life — second only to infancy. Their brain is literally rewiring itself. The part responsible for identity, independence, and emotional regulation is under construction, and the construction is supposed to be loud. Pulling away from you is part of how they become themselves.

But here’s the catch: knowing that doesn’t make it easier. Because the parenting most of us were handed — the scripts, the consequences, the “because I said so” — was built for a different stage of childhood. It worked when they were eight. It stops working around twelve. And no one hands you the updated manual.

You’re not failing. You’re parenting a different kid than you were a year ago, with tools that were designed for the kid you used to have.

Imagine instead…

What if the next year looked different?

  • You ask how their day was — and they actually tell you.
  • The eye rolls soften. The walls come down. You can feel them letting you back in.
  • Hard conversations about phones, grades, or friends don’t end in slammed doors.
  • You stop tiptoeing. You say the thing. And it lands.
  • You walk into the room without rehearsing first.
  • You recognize the kid in front of you again — older, but still yours.
  • The teenage years stop feeling like something to survive.

This isn’t a fantasy. It’s what happens when you have the right tools and the right framework — and someone walking it with you.

The WHOLE Method™

A framework built for this stage of parenting

Most parenting advice tells you what to do in a hard moment. The WHOLE Method tells you what to build — across five areas that, together, shape who your teen is becoming. We work through whichever pillars your family needs most. Some parents need all five. Some need three, deeply. Every package is built around your teen.

W — Worth & Confidence Teens who know their worth don’t have to prove it — not to peers, not to social media, not to you. We’ll work on how you reflect their worth back to them in a way they can actually hear, especially in the years when they’re most likely to stop believing it.

H — Habits & Wellness Sleep, screens, food, movement, regulation. The unglamorous foundation that runs everything else. We’ll build the habits your teen will carry into adulthood — without turning every conversation about phones into a fight.

O — Ownership & Advocacy Your job is shifting from manager to coach. We’ll work on handing them age-appropriate ownership of their choices, their schoolwork, and their voice — so they leave your house knowing how to advocate for themselves in the world.

L — Learning & Growth Mindset How your teen relates to failure shapes everything that comes after high school. We’ll work on the language and frameworks that turn setbacks into information instead of identity — for them, and for you.

E — Envision & Execute The teen years aren’t just about surviving — they’re about becoming. We’ll work on helping your teen see who they want to be and build the small daily moves that get them there. This is where parenting starts to feel like partnership.

Here’s what working together looks like

1. Book a free fit call. A no-pressure 20-minute conversation to see if we’re the right match. You’ll tell me about your teen, your family, and what you’re hoping for. I’ll tell you honestly whether On Purpose Parenting is the right next step.

2. We build your custom plan. Before our first real session, you’ll complete a short intake. I’ll use it to map your six sessions around the WHOLE pillars your family needs most — so we’re not starting from scratch on session one.

3. Six 1:1 sessions over three months. We meet every other week by Zoom. Each session builds on the last. You’ll leave every call with something concrete to try — a script, a shift, a small experiment — and we’ll debrief what worked at the next one.

4. Tools you keep. Frameworks, scripts, worksheets, and resources customized for your family. The work doesn’t end when our six sessions do — you walk away with a parenting toolkit you’ll use for years.

Why parents trust me with this work

Hi, I’m Dru — a Parenting Coach with dual Master’s degrees in Adolescent Developmental Counseling and Teaching English. I’ve spent years working directly with teens, which means I know what they’re actually thinking when they slam the door — and what works to bring them back to the table.

I’m ICF-certified as a Teen Resilience Coach, and my work is grounded in adolescent development science, not parenting opinions. But credentials are only half of it.

The other half is this: I built On Purpose Parenting because the parents I worked with kept telling me they didn’t need more information — they needed a framework, a plan, and someone in their corner.

That’s what this is.

On Purpose Parenting

$750 for the full six-session package. Payment plans available.

Includes six private 1:1 coaching sessions, a custom plan built around you and your family, and a complete set of frameworks and tools you keep.

The fit call is a no-pressure 20-minute conversation to see if we’re the right match. If we’re not, I’ll point you toward what is.

Your teen is becoming the adult they’ll be for the rest of their life.

You get to be part of how that happens.

Not by accident. Not by hoping it works out. On purpose.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start building the relationship you’ve always wanted with your teen, let’s talk.

The questions parents ask before they book

Does my teen need to be in the sessions? No. On Purpose Parenting is built for you — the parent. Most of the work happens between us, and you bring the shifts home. That said, if it makes sense for your teen to join a session or two along the way, we can absolutely fold that in.

What if my co-parent isn’t on board? You don’t need both parents on board for this to work. Many of my clients are the only parent in the household doing this work, and the shifts they make change the relationship anyway. That said, if your co-parent ever wants to join a session, the door is open.

What ages do you work with? Parents of teens roughly 11 to 18 — middle school through high school. The framework adapts to the stage. If your child is on the younger or older edge, bring it up on the fit call and we’ll talk through whether this is the right fit.

How is this different from therapy? Therapy looks backward to heal. Coaching looks forward to build. I’m not diagnosing or treating — I’m helping you build the skills, language, and frameworks to parent the teen in front of you. If something in our work points toward therapy being a better fit for your family, I’ll say so.

What if we’re already in a hard moment? You don’t have to wait until things settle down to start. In fact, hard moments are often when the framework lands hardest. That said, if there’s an acute safety concern, I’ll be honest about that on the fit call and help you find the right support first.

Do you work with single parents? Blended families? Co-parents in different households? Yes to all three. The work meets you in your actual life, not the version of family someone else drew up.

How long until I see a difference? Most parents notice small shifts within the first two or three sessions — a conversation that goes differently, a moment they handled in a new way. The bigger relational shifts build over the full three months and continue long after we finish.

What’s the investment? On Purpose Parenting is $750. Payment plans are available — we can talk about what works for your family on the fit call.

“Dru is fantastic! She helped restore my child’s confidence after being bullied at school. She’s so understanding that my daughter looks forward to her every week!!”
